What are some of the risks and complications?

After having your anti wrinkle injections you may experience minor swelling, bruising, redness or tenderness. Any bruising can be covered with makeup if so desired. Other possible side effects may be drooping eyelid or headache, which are all temporary. Dermal fillers can cause bruising, swelling, tenderness or redness in the area. Infection is rare but can occur.

How long does the treatment take?

For the initial consultation for anti wrinkle injections allow approximately 45 minutes. For subsequent treatments it only takes 15 minutes. Dermal fillers take longer so an initial treatment may take up to an hour subsequent treatments will take around 30 minutes.

What areas can be treated with dermal fillers?

Hollows under eyes, cheeks, lips, fine and deep lines, chin

Will it hurt?

This varies from patient to patient. Some people describe it like an ant bite. Ice can be used to reduce the discomfort but the treatment is quick and a very thin needle is used. Dermal fillers have an anesthetic blended in but we can use a topical anesthetic to reduce any discomfort.

How long do the treatments last?

Anti-wrinkle injections usually last around 3 to 4 months but can last longer with ongoing treatments. Dermal fillers show immediate results and last from 9 to 12 months, sometimes longer depending on the area being treated.
